represented by one management, claudia schiffer has maintained a greatly developed & undeniable presence in the modeling scene for over 20 years. consistenly maintaining her status as an iconic supermodel, the germany model appears for the june issue of harper’s bazaar UK. seen on one of two covers here, schiffer appears on the sand in a big brimmed prada hat & matching dress for the subscribers edition cover. while the issues news stand cover has yet to be seen, im always intensely juiced to see any of the 90’s supermodels grace covers, book runway shows or land campaigns. claudia ranks as fashion’s no. 6 top model icon; which puts her before kristen mcmenamy & after carolyn murphy.

kate moss for british harper’s bazaar

as britain preps for a royal wedding, harper’s bazaar puts kate moss on the cover of their may issue labeling her, fashion royalty. heavenly photographed  in mcqueen, i love how pure & soft both the lighting & kate appear in the shot. shot by sølve sundsbø, kate is joined by daphne guinness within the the ‘fashion royalty’ issue as they pay tribute to alexander mcqueen. this is one of two covers that have been published for this issue & this is my favorite of the two. while rumors swirl regarding the designer of kate middelton’s wedding gown, everyone from victoria beckham to alexander mcqueen’s sarah burton have all been named. we’ll have to see on april 29th, 2011 when the royal wedding takes place. a stunning cover & kate is timeless.

represented by DNA model management, natalia vodianova appears editorially for the december issue of british harper’s bazaar. shot by michelangelo di battista, natalia shines in fall’s greatest gold pieces from balmain, alexander mcqueen, armani privé & givenchy haute couture. i love the opposition of the rustic, destroyed backdrop against the elegance of the fashion pieces. natalia appears stunning in armor, showcasing an air of silent strength & appears stunningly sophisticated in the alexander mcqueen finale piece- a definitive piece of the final collection. also appearing on the cover of the issue, harper’s bazaar uk is celebrating women of the year for the month of december. as one of the most celebrated females models in fashion, natalia ranks as the no. 3 icon in the industry, while ranking as the no. 21 highest earning. she remains a consistent force in fashion; landing fall campaigns for etam, hugo boss & louis vuitton. for the spring, natalia landed campaigns with yves saint laurent, givenchy & guerlain. two season’s consecutively this year, natalia appear for stella mccartney & etam for the summer/spring season & returned for fall/winter; she landed 7 covers this year, booked the exclusive tom ford womenswear show & returned to the runway opening & closing for alexander wang & opening for diane von furstenburg in new york during fall fashion week. the spread seen here is a great ending high note for natalia’s golden year in high fashion.

appearing for the september issue of british harper’s bazaar, gisele bündchen was photographed by cedric buchet. with styling by sophia neophitou-apostolou, the spread is more of an understated approach; yet & still gisele’s photographic presence is undeniable. shot on a windswept rooftop- the feature spread is iconically titled, ‘gisele’. represented by IMG models, gisele is considered one of the last supermodels for the supermodel era. while her star power is unstoppable, the concept of the spread is lacking in some areas. yet & still, we are still given completely beauty. i love gisele.

shot john akehurst, ashley smith appears tossled in fine jewelry for the pages of british harper’s bazaar. represented by trump models, ashley smith does an amazine job at balancing tasteful nudity & undone up-dos. styled by carmen borgonovo, the spread is a meticulously executed with the right amounts of understated appeal evenly distributed. the quality of the scan makes the images seem a bit more aged as well, which i find charming. lines a jewlery spread should blur are between accessories & beauty; her the overall look is more natural as to not drown out the pieces that were placed for presentation. my only negative take on this spread is the choice made to have ashley rock black nail polish. while much of the spread is seemingly undone, the black is far too harsh for a spread that has so many delicate beauty & style elements.

represented by IMG models, gisele lands the september issue of harper’s bazaar UK. the brazilian supermodel is going strong after conquering a post pregnancy comeback this year. as an icon in fashion, it’s extremely expected that quintessential supermodels liek gisele land the coveted september covers. shot by cedric buchet, the subscribers cover is another faultless performance from gisele. im beyond excited to see that harper’s bazaar has opted for a model, instead of doing an a-list actress. (applause) gisele in many ways, has become the new aged prototype of the supermodel. she has single handedly sent the fashion industry into a tailspin as a leading brazilian bombshell, prompting an overdrive in demand for brazilian models in fashion. the second cover below is the newstand edition & is equally amazing. no make-up, still bad!

represented by IMG models, hilary rhoda appears for the july issue of british harper’s bazaar. shot by paola kudacki, rhoda appears editorially styled by vanessa coyle. i love the spread for its soft use of fabrics & hushed tones, but i feel as though the hair is off slightly. it seems as though they tried to hard to make something so simple become more than what it needs to be. the gelled down loose strands bother me; furthermore, i really, really love how the clothes appear & have always loved hilary’s look. you might recognize her from her campaign work with ann taylor, etro, st. john & more popularly with estée lauder.

hollywood glam girl, scarlett johansson snatched the january cover of british harper’s bazaar. shot by alexi lubormirski, johansson continues to represent the marilyn-esque image that we’ve seen in the dolce & gabbana cosmetics campaign; in which she was also featured.  the blonde updo & cat eye is classicly sexy & chic. seen above is the subscribers cover edition.
