through the lens of mario testino, gisele appears boldly in metallic for the cover of british vogue’s december issue. represented by IMG models, gisele has often been referred to as the last supermodel. what is so interesting to me is the term, ‘supermodel’. im not interested in it’s meaning because to me it’s simple- complete, total & unavoidable domination. that’s what a true supermodel is & she embodies that. while there are a number of female models, in my opinion, who fit the bill of super whether concerning bookings, runway presence or vitality through consistent performance, gisele exceeds all of that in our modern industry. gisele has single handedly refocused model presence in brazil & continues to dominate above & beyond the realm of fashion as a true celebrity. much like cindy crawford, naomi campbell or linda evangelista- gisele’s star power in fashion glaringly appears in the new stands & shines in the face of individuals who don’t know fashion in any capacity. the fact that her beauty, presence & image have burned through the confines of fashion is what makes her a superstar & for that, this cover is deserved. those legs, that body, those muthafuckn cheek bones & let’s not discuss her walk.

supermodel icon, gisele bündchen appears for the december cover of italian vogue through the lens of steven meisel. shot in black & white with a bit of metallic undertones, gisele is seen with an air of iconic flare. represented by IMG models, gisele also appears for the january issue of vogue nippon & is already making waves in the new year. while im entirely thrilled about her landing this cover; im also greatly anticipating what will be unveiled for the feature editorial. clad in valentino, the close up shot is intimate while the cosmetics allow it to be felt with a greater sense of glamour. meisel is a genius, gisele is an icon. period.

jac jagaciak for numéro

represented by IMG models, jac jagaciak appears for issue no. 119 of numéro. capitalizing on the oriental design concepts recently seen on the runways, jac appears powedered up with a bold red lip, seemingly swimming in a lit city setting. though lacking a certain expected standard of beauty, im intrigued enough by the cover image to want to see what else the issue presents. jac has had an amazing year in fashion for 2010 & was most recently seen for campaigns with chanel cosmetics,  philosophy di alberta ferretti, valentino & marc jacobs. this cover is just another notch on her high end fashion belt, im anticipating a greater presence for jac throughout 2011. she’s one of my favorite females faces right now.

catherine mcneil appears editorially for the december issue of numéro tokyo. colorfully chic, catherine appears styled by samuel françois, through the lens of anthony maule. represented by next models ny, catherine ranks no. 12 of the top 50 models in fashion. you might recognize her from this past fall gap & givenchy ad campaigns. of australian nationality, catherine is one of my favorite female models for her angular facial features & classic beauty. surprisingly, catherine also has an extracurricular interest outside of modeling for automobile mechanics. love this spread for classic style & bold cosmetics.

represented by women model management, iris strubegger appears for the december issue of vogue paris. completely transformed with golden blonde hair & beautiful cosmetic contouring additions, iris is one of the most versatile female models in fashion. shot by mert alas + marcus piggott, the images take on a bit of a 90’s classic supermodel feel being seen in black & white. iris ranks as fashion’s no. 9 female model within the top 50. appearing this past year for campaigns with karl lagerfeld, maxmara studio, etro, DSQUARED2, trussardi & francesco scognamiglio; strubegger had one of her strongest years in all facets of high fashion. with more than 15 editorial bookings with italian vogue, W, numéro & french vogue, collectively in the past year, i have high hopes for iris in the coming year. iris is more stunning than i have ever seen her here.

through the lens of greg kadel, russian vogue’s december cover girl, jessica stam, appears for the issue’s feature spread. represented by IMG, jessica appears in strikingly bold tones in the streets of a metropolitan region. clad in black & red, the spread is given an air of holiday chic with contrasts of green being pulled from the cityscape backdrop. as one of the more prominent females in modeling, jessica stam looks stunning, even amidst highly visible blurs of light & motion. styling for the spread was done by ekaterina muhkina & in editorial shot no. 3, jessica dons sunglasses designed by mecura NYC.

through the lens of sharif hamza, ashley smith appears editorially for vogue russia’s december issue. shot against an opulent backdrop with rich styling & sophisticated costumes, ashley shines like a queen to a throne.  represented by trump models, ashley has quickly built a presence in the world of high end editorial & fashion publication, appearing on the cover of luvre magazine & landing substantial editorial spots for numéro, russh, jalouse & dazed & confused. here she showcases even more versatility. i love the spread & am very impressed by the power seen in the styling details. a well rounded set of style & concept overall.

represented by DNA models, edita vilkeviciute appears for the december issue of vogue germany. ranking no. 15 within the top 50 female models in fashion, edita had a great year following a spectacular set of career moves throughout 2009. edita appeared for campaigns with massimo dutti, calvin klein swimwear & calvin klein white label for both winter & fall this past year. landing covers for numéro tokyo & vogue españa, she also appeared for the FW10 giorgio armani campaign while simultaneously booking editorial spots for vogue nippon, V, american vogue & W magazine. as the december cover for vogue germany tops off her year, edita was also one of the few models to book the exclusive tom ford womenswear presentation during fall fashion week. her appearance & involvement with ford’s return to womenswear are sure to set her up nicely for the upcoming year.  shot by alexi lubomirski, i love the contrast of the bold red against the white backdrop.

lara stone for vogue china

represented by IMG models, lara stone appears for the december cover of vogue china. through the lens of willy vanderperre, stone appears similarly to the way we seen her december 2009 cover of british vogue. against a marbelized studio backdrop, lara appears in a blue ball gown designed with tulle to the high heavens. while i’ve seen previews from the editorial that accompany’s the cover, the full spread is much more impressive than this cover, tremendously. that said, it’s always dope to see fashion’s top female model score another cover. consider this a winter fantasy by way of fashion magazine.

the december issue of british vogue further flexes their creative muscles with this star sign editorial starring siri tollerød. represented by DNA models, siri has become a recognized face in fashion; fitting into the current model standard of high fashion. hailing from norway, siri ranks as fashion’s no. 43 model within the top 50 & has been seen this past spring for campaigns with MAC cosmetics, white house black market & sportmax. for the fall, she was booked alongside fashion starlet lindsey wixson & ginta lapina. i love the creative elements & overall vision displayed for this spread. through the lens of tim gutt, we see the fantastical set design of shona heath with styling for the spread being done by kate phelan. there is a bit of a vintage feel to the images & the set combined; a beautiful spread & im completely impressed. love this.
